Mars is known as the red planet, because this planet always appears red and dry. Mars, were not red, red color at this time due to a nuclear explosion is very powerful. The surface of Mars is covered with a thin layer of radioactive materials including uranium, thorium and potassium radioactive so that it looks as colored red. Dr. John Brandednberg, one senior scientist at Orbital Technologies Corp. said that about 180 million years ago, Mars has a natural nuclear reaction that sent shockwave that turns the planet into the dry sand area.
He also said that on Mars there was an explosion of nature which is equivalent to one megaton hydrogen bomb, amounting to one million. This is evident from the pattern of land in the area Acidalium Mare, north of Mars, which contain high concentrations of highly radioactive. The blast also caused the Martian atmosphere filled with radio-isotope that is seen in some of the data using NASA gamma-ray spectrometry. Radioactive is what makes Mars appear red.
