Daihatsu will build on Electronic Automatic Transmission Factory (EAT) in Bandar Baru Sendayan, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. The new Factory will begin construction later this month, This is also the first Electronic Automatic Transmission factory is in Southeast Asia. The factory is expected to be ready for operation in December this year.
The new factory , will make Malaysia as a feeder of automotive components from Daihatsu. Daihatsu Motor Co Ltd became a major shareholder of this plant as well as an important partner in the technology and technical cooperation with Perodua Sdn Bhd.
Plant was carried out by Akhasi-Kikai Industry Sdn Bhd. They bought the land from Perbadanan Menteri Besar and BSS Development. Akashi-Kikai Industry Malaysia is a foreign investment company whose shares are owned by the Akashi-Kikai Industry as much as 51 percent, 39 percent of Daihatsu and Perodua 10 percent.
According to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Negeri Sembilan Mohamad Hasan, the plant will produce 150,000 EAT units a year for automatic transmission models the Daihatsu Myvi and Azla.
Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said, “With this plant, I hope that many Japanese companies are coming up a factory here, as well as making new airport as the center of the main factory Sendayan,” he said, after signing sale and purchase of land between the Great Minister of Negeri Sembilan and BSS with Akashi Kikai-in Seremban, last night.
This automatic transmission plant will create at least 200 new jobs for local residents. Daihatsu chose Negeri Sembilan party as its first factory in Southeast Asia because the infrastructure is an attractive, besides being close to motorway and airport. Not only that, in the near future Daihatsu will supply the needs of an automatic transmission plant in Malaysia, but in the future is expected to supply to other car manufacturers around the world.
